India captain Virat Kohli spoke about the Indian Army at the press conference in Mumbai before departing for London where he said that if they winning the World Cup brings a smile on the faces of the Indian soldiers and their families then that will be the biggest achievement for his players.Virat Kohli was responding to a question from a journalist who reminded the captain about how former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath recently donated the prize money he got at the CEAT awards to the Indian Army Welfare fund. Amarnath also motivated the Indian cricketers to play the World Cup this year for the armed forces as he felt there can be no bigger motivation than that.Earlier this year the Indian players paid tribute to the armed forces in the 3rd ODI against Australia in which they wore special Army caps during the game. India’s tribute to the armed forces came after the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad on February 14.The team even decided to contribute their match fees from that game to the National Defence FundTalking about getting motivation from the armed forces, Kohli said on Tuesday that the contribution of the soldiers is incomparable and they will try their best to win the World Cup for the jawans and their families.advertisement”You get motivation from a lot of sources, the point mentioned here is a very big one. I don’t think there can be a bigger motivation than that. When you talk about the Indian Army, the role that they play for the country, there is no comparison with that.”If we go in with that motivation that we can do something for the Army, you will see a different level of passion coming out of us. But that also depends on a lot of other factors. Every individual has a different motivation while playing in the World Cup.”I think if everyone keeps the Indian Army in mind then we will get an extra boost from it,” Virat Kohli said at the press conference in Mumbai. It’s a packed house here at the BCCI HQ – #TeamIndia Captain @imVkohli & Coach @RaviShastriOfc address the media before they head to England for #CWC19 (@BCCI) May 21, 2019The 15 Indian players along with the support staff and reserve players will be departing for London tonight. Captain Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri addressed the media in Mumbai before their departure where they answered a host of tough questions but both sounded confident of bringing the World Cup back home.”Kedar will come with the side and as far this tournament is concerned its an opportunity. If you look at this team and what they have done over the last 5 years, they have played wonderful cricket. Like Virat said, it’s about striving for that consistency. And not playing any differently just because its a World Cup.”World Cup might be a stage but stage is to be enjoyed. Most important thing is get out there and enjoy it. And if you play to potential, that Cup might be here,” head coach Ravi Shastri said.#TeamIndia for @ICC #CWC19 #MenInBlue (@BCCI) April 15, 2019India have a terrific record in the World Cup having won the showpiece event twice in 1983 and 2011.
