first_imgDietmar Hamann has told talkSPORT Liverpool new boy Mohamed Salah will NOT be guaranteed a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up this season. The Reds got their summer transfer business off to a bang in June with the signing of Egypt international Salah from Roma for around £34million.But the 25-year-old arrives at Anfield looking for a spot in a competitive midfield – with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane all well settled into Klopp’s regime.Former Chelsea man Salah returns to the Premier League after three fine seasons in Italy – scoring 29 goals in 65 appearances for Fiorentina and Roma.Yet, Istanbul hero Hamann believes he could be facing a battle for a place in the team, and said the club should have strengthened in other areas before signing another winger.Speaking on the told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former Reds midfielder said: “I’m not really sure what to expect from Salah.“It’s clear he’s a very capable player, but we’ve seen it in recent years that some of the best players came to the Premier League and couldn’t adapt to it.“So as much as I’m excited to have him, I’m also a bit cautious.“That position is also probably the strongest part of Liverpool’s team. With Coutinho, Lallana, Mane and Firmino already there, I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion he [Salah] will play.“There are other areas in that Liverpool team that need addressing – you look at left-back, centre back, centre midfielder and in goal – there are three or four positions that still need addressing and I would have rather seen them addressed before another winger came in.”last_img
